The endosperm storage proteins of 108 European wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars have been fractionated by SDS – PAGE to determinate the composition of high molecular weight glutenin subunits (HMW – GS) composition. A total of twelve HMW – GS alleles, including 3 at the Glu – 1A, 7 at the Glu – 1B and 2 at the Glu – 1D loci, were revealed. HMW – GS null controlled by locus Glu – 1A, subunits 7+9 by Glu – 1B and 5+10 by Glu – 1D were predominated. However low frequented alleles such as 17+18, 7 and 20 were observed. Futhermore, other new alleles encoding HMW – GS at the locus Glu – 1B have been found in one of France cultivar (Bagou).Downloads
